Call for 3 PhD Scholarships offered under Programa Operacional do Norte – NORTE2020 (Ref. BD-03-2016 (N2020 Bioengineering)
The MIT Portugal Program, with the financial support of ESF – European Social Fund, under Programa Operacional Regional do Norte – Norte2020, announces a call for three PhD scholarships for Universidade do Minho, under the Bioengineering PhD program.
Field of study
The target population of the Bioengineering PhD program are graduates with an academic background in biological and biochemical engineering, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences or other areas related with bioengineering.
The call for applications is open from August 11th to September 8th.
Evaluation and Communication of the Results
Evaluation is primarily based on the merit and motivation of the applicant. As a minimum requirement the candidate must have a pre-bologna Licenciatura degree (4-5 years), or the post-bologna Integrated Master degree or equivalent from institutions other than Universidade do Minho.
Applicants must also demonstrate English proficiency. The evaluation process may require an interview in English, either in person or by videoconference. Preference will be given to candidates who present good results in the “GRE General Test” (general exam of the Graduate Record Examination).
The evaluation panel will review the submitted applications, weighing the candidates’ qualifications and producing a sorted list of candidates. The selection jury is composed at least by a faculty member from each of the Universities involved in this PhD Program.

The grant will last for 12 months (with possibility of renewal for more two consecutive years, depending on performance), starting on 1st October 2016.
